Our Shared Future - A Community Briefing:
Friday 5th June
An open invitation to listen, learn and share - A non-partisan, eye-opening film screening and discussion.
Organised by the Sustainable Caterham Team this 45 minute film is being screened at the URC, Harestone Hill, Caterham Valley, CR36SX. Doors open at 7pm and the film starts at 7.30pm. The event finishes at 9.30 pm.
Bringing together nine leading UK experts to present the latest evidence on extreme weather, food security, health and the cost of living in relation to climate change, this is your chance to unite as a community, hear the evidence and express your feelings in a gentle facilitated discussion.
Expect refreshments, a bit of music, the film and solidarity.
Big Green week
This year’s Big Green Week is from 6th to 14th June. Caterham Carnival is on 13th June and there will be a stall organised by Caterham Eco Churches. Do come along and join in the activities.
Zero Waste pop up shop?
We’re considering offering you the opportunity to refill your washing up liquid bottles at St Mary’s. If everybody joined in we could save a significant number of plastic bottles from the recycling. Would you bring your empty bottles to be refilled? Let us know what you think.
Eco tip
Liz has a supply of Denttabs which are a zero-waste and plastic free natural alternative to liquid toothpaste. They are blended with key ingredients such as fluoride, bicarbonate of soda and silica for thorough cleaning and microcrystalline cellulose to help prevent and remove plaque. If you are interested in trying some do speak to Liz who will be happy to give you some.
We look forward to hearing from you with comments or suggestions.

Musical Evening in St Lawrence’s

Tony Hamilton’s grand-daughter Clémentine, who is studying to be a jazz singer, has agreed to present a musical evening in St Lawrences. She will be accompanied by some of her musician friends and will sing a mix of jazz, classical and easy listening. For more details, see Tony.
Clémentine Arnold is a multi-instrumentalist from Surrey with a diverse musical background spanning classical, jazz, composition, and musical theatre. She holds diploma-level piano qualifications along with Grade 8 distinctions in both clarinet and saxophone.
From the age of 14 to 16, Clémentine attended the Saturday Music Academy at Trinity School, where she studied classical piano and composition, while also pursuing musical theatre singing lessons as a hobby. In her final year there, she was awarded the prestigious Trinity Musician of the Year prize.
In 2023, she joined The Purcell School to further her studies in classical composition and piano. During her second year, however, she discovered a growing passion for jazz music, leading her in a new artistic direction. Clémentine has since secured a place at Royal Academy of Music to study Jazz Voice on its four-year undergraduate programme - an especially notable achievement, with only one place awarded per instrument each year.
Although still exploring her future career aspirations, Clémentine is passionate about blending the many influences from her musical journey so far, something that will be reflected throughout her concert performance.
